The Diameter of the Cornea
نویسنده
چکیده
There is a remarkable absence of statement as to the dimensions of the cornea in the ordinary ophthalmic text-books. Fuchs contents himself with stating categorically that the vertical diameter is 11 mm. and the horizontal 12 mm. Swanzy is silent on the subject; as are Herbert and Smith in their books on Cataract, and Maynardj Grimsdale and Brewerton, Meller, and Mayou in their writings 011 Ophthalmic Surgery generally. I can find no figures in Parsons' Pathology, nor in the text-books of Anatomy of Morris or Gray. The last named describes the

Keratoconus experimentally produced in mice using collagenase
Introduction: Keratoconus is a relatively common disease of cornea in which structural changes within the cornea cause it to thin and change to a conical shape and scar at the central portion of cornea. So far, few methods and drug treatments were introduced due to both lack of accepted animal models to induce experimental keratoconus and limitation of research in human considering ethical issu...
متن کاملاندازهگیری قطر افقی قرنیه نوزادان ایرانی
Introduction : Horizontal corneal diameter is one of the diagnostic factors in some ophthalmic diseases. At present American Newborn horizontal corneal diameter is considered as our normal value in Iranian ones, while it may be quite different in Iranian newborns. Early diagnosis is critical in some ophthalmic diseases such as congenital glaucoma and awareness of normal corneal diameter is es...
متن کاملLoratadine- Loaded Thermoresponsive Hydogel : Characterization and Ex-vivo Rabbit Cornea Permeability Studies
Poor bioavailability of ophthalmic drops is mainly due to drainage through the nasal-lacrimal duct and a very low permeability through corneal epithelium. The aim of our study was to prepare and characterize an ocular hydrogel of loratadine, as an example of a lipophilic drug, to increase drug concentration and residence time at the site of action in the eye. In this study,a 23full factorial de...
متن کاملThe Effect of Lyophilization on Light Transmission of Amniotic Membrane: A Comparison with Rabbit Cornea
Background & Aims: Amniotic membrane persists for a long time after ocular transplantation (as corneal substitute) and can affect light transmission (transparency). The aim of this study was to evaluate the transparency of amniotic membrane after freeze-drying (lyophilization) and to compare the results with transparency of rabbit cornea. Methods: Transparency of rabbits’ corneas and fresh and ...
متن کاملHistopathological Finding of Cornea after Collagen Cross-Linking Using Riboflavin and Ultraviolet A in Rabbit
Purpose: To evaluate the histopathological changes of the cornea in rabbit corneas after accelerated collagen cross-linking. Methods: Right eyes of 7 adult New Zealand albino rabbits weighing 1.5 to 2.0 kg were studied. Right eyes of all animals were in the treatment group and left eyes were in the control group. The epithelium of all right eyes was removed and was crossed-linked with riboflavi...
متن کاملKeratin 13 is a more specific marker of conjunctival epithelium than keratin 19
Introduction To evaluate the expression patterns of cytokeratin (K) 12, 13, and 19 in normal epithelium of the human ocular surface to determine whether K13 could be used as a marker for conjunctival epithelium. Methods: Total RNA was isolated from the human conjunctiva and central cornea. Those transcripts that had threefolds or higher expression levels in the conjunctiva than the cornea wer...
